C4ISR and unmanned aerial systems are some of Equipnor’s most important strategic focus areas. We see drones and aerial intelligence as an increasingly critical part of modern soldier systems, where data, situational awareness and fast decision-making play a central role.
One of our partners in this area is Quantum Systems, a company with a clear purpose: to develop advanced unmanned aerial systems that collect, analyse and deliver aerial intelligence for professional users across defence, security, humanitarian, commercial and geospatial operations.
In a world where decisions must be made quickly, accurately and based on increasingly complex information, access to reliable data is critical. Whether operators are thousands of miles away or directly on the ground, the ability to see the bigger picture can be the difference between uncertainty and decisive action.
This mission is supported by strong engineering expertise and a clear commitment to turning advanced technology into practical capability.
Built by engineers
Quantum Systems was founded in 2015, with roots in the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich. Since the beginning, the company has grown significantly and built a highly competent team in drones, robotics, imagery collection and advanced software.
The company describes itself as bold, curious and engineering-driven. This is reflected in its ambition to lead the aerial data revolution and deliver systems that support free and democratic societies.
Aerial intelligence for critical missions
Quantum Systems is more than a drone manufacturer. It is an aerial data intelligence company, focused on transforming airborne data into actionable insight. Through its electric vertical take-off and landing systems, known as eVTOL, Quantum Systems combines operational flexibility with long endurance, ease of use and reliable data collection.
The systems are designed for professional users who need real-time, mission-critical information in demanding environments. For military users, this can support improved situational awareness and more informed decision-making in the field.
Combining hardware and software
Quantum Systems’ technology is based on the close integration of advanced hardware and intelligent software. Their drones are designed to be easy to operate, durable and effective, while delivering high-quality data quickly to operators and soldiers.
This combination is central to the company’s ambition to make aerial data collection more automated, accessible and actionable. To achieve this, they invest in software, artificial intelligence, edge computing and mission planning. Quantum Systems is working towards solutions where complex operations can be conducted with fewer manual steps and more precision.
eVTOL technology with operational flexibility
Quantum Systems’ eVTOL fixed-wing unmanned aerial systems combine the convenient handling of a multi-rotor drone with the efficient aerodynamics of an aircraft. The systems can take off and land vertically, without the need for a runway, catapult, parachute or additional launch equipment.
After vertical take-off and reaching the required transition altitude, the drone enters a short acceleration phase. During this phase, the electrically driven rotors tilt from the vertical take-off position to a horizontal flight position. This allows the system to fly efficiently like a fixed-wing aircraft, while retaining the simple launch and recovery advantages of a multi-rotor drone.
The drones land smoothly on shock-absorbing landing gear, reducing stress on the airframe and sensors. This helps extend the service life of both the platform and its payload.
Building technology for the future
Quantum Systems is building technology for a future where aerial intelligence becomes an integral part of decision-making. Through robust eVTOL platforms, advanced sensor technology and increasingly intelligent software, the company enables users to collect critical information quickly, efficiently and reliably.
With a clear ambition to automate data acquisition and deliver real-time analytics at scale, Quantum Systems is positioning itself as a key player in the next generation of unmanned aerial systems.
In Quantum Systems, Equipnor has a trusted and competent partner in this focus area. At Equipnor, drones, C4ISR and aerial intelligence are part of a broader commitment to develop and deliver complete soldier systems for modern operations. Through the combination of advanced technology, competence, training and certifications, we strengthen our ability to support operators with solutions that improve situational awareness, effectiveness and mission readiness.
